Stellar 5 Legal, LLC is a woman owned tax law firm dedicated to guiding you through the various stages of your life. Whether you're building a business, a nonprofit, or rebuilding after a divorce or the loss of a partner, our firm will empower you to take charge of your path forward by meeting you where you are and guiding you through the process.
During my over 25 years of practicing law, I have raised children, grown and negotiated the sale of my husband's medical practice, led nonprofits, and started my own ancillary businesses, including Stellar 5 Consulting, LLC, a business that grew out of the needs my client’s had for advice and services that are outside of the scope of legal work.
I've used every season of my life as an opportunity to grow, and launched my own practice with the goal of helping others do the same.
My practice encompasses estate planning, estate and trust administration, as well as business planning for both nonprofit and for-profit entities.
I have worked with a wide range of estate planning and administration clients. I have worked extensively with healthcare practices and businesses and understand the unique issues that face healthcare practitioners at all stages of their careers.
The business of medicine is often very different from the practice. I work with my clients to ensure that they are aware of the myriad issues in any business transaction as well as the ones that are unique to their industry.
One of my business superpowers is the ability to explain complicated concepts in a way that is digestible and with empathy during what are often times of great change for an individual or family.
Tax law isn't an area of the law that is always straightforward, I believe in empowering clients through information. I meet you where you are and work with you to make sure you understand the path to reaching your goals.
I graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 1997. I completed my LL.M. in Taxation with a Certificate in Estate planning from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010 with my husband and two daughters by my side.
I am licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
I traded the full time practice of law for an Of Counsel role at an AV rated boutique tax and estate planning firm so that I could grow my husbands medical practice, essentially our family business. That venture led to opportunities in healthcare business planning and law and so much more.
In addition to being a lawyer, I am a certified education program evaluator, an SBA certified MBE/SBE/DBE, a Six Sigma Black Belt. and a serial entrepreneur.
I have worked with a wide range of estate planning and administration clients. One of my business superpowers is the ability to explain complicated concepts in a way that is digestable and with empathy during what are often times of great change for an individual or family.
I have served on the board of several nonprofits, however I prefer serving as counsel to many different types of organizations. I enjoy working with nonprofits of all sizes and I recently created a Substack (Nonprofit Attorney) in order to provide a resource for smaller organizations that cannot necessarily seek out advice on basic issues related to nonprofits.
